{Speaking to the Deaf Through Cued Speech}

My best friend is deaf and uses a form of communication different from that of American Sign Language to talk with her parents and friends. It is known as Cued American English. A form of spoken language made visible to the deaf world. Well I love it and feel so fortunate to be someone that can learn more about it. When I was young I wanted to be a Sign Language Interpreter. Well that has changed and now I know that I can become fluent in about three months if I use it daily. How exciting. I am hoping to become fluent and then surprise my friend and her family. It will be great!

Hey fellow cuer,

I came across this blog through another blogger's site (http://kokonutpundits.blogspot.com/2008/01/hearing-woman-chooses-cued-speech-over.html).

Keep up the good work and practice often! I wish we had met when I was in Duluth for the NCSA board meeting back in October.

You go!
