Blizzard 3/2007

Here is what the radar looked like in March of 2007 and here is what it was warning us all against. Who would have known that it would have gotten this bad. We had another blizzard that happened in 1991. It is commonly known as the Perfect Storm and is actually what the film with George Clooney was all about. It was two huge masses of pressure squeezing the daylights out of the air mass and sweeping off Lake Superior. We were stuck for a whole weak inside our house. It came on suddenly and left suddenly. It was unbelievable.

HEAVY SNOW AND STRONG WINDS TOCONTINUE FOR MUCH OF THE NORTHLAND THROUGH FRIDAY. TRAVEL IS NOT ADVISED IN MANY AREAS. BLIZZARD AND CONDITIONS...WITH FREQUENTWIND GUSTS OF 50 TO 60 MPH WILL PERSIST NEAR LAKE SUPERIOR OVERNIGHT. WHITE-OUT CONDITIONS WITH SIGNIFICANT DRIFTING...MAKING SOME ROADS IMPOSSIBLE TO PASS...WILL BE FOUND MAINLY FROM TWO HARBORS...TO THE TWIN PORTS...OVER TO DEVILS ISLAND. LOCATIONS ALONG THE NORTH SHORE CAN ALSO EXPECT THE ICE ON LAKE SUPERIOR TO PILE ALONG THE SHORE LINE INTO MOUNDS AROUND 25 FEET HIGH.

wow, I cannot begin to imagine what snow like that would be like. I have only really seen snow up to maybe a foot high- barely enough to scrape together a snowball.
