Birthday Round-up: Really Yummy

Wow! Talk about some good eate'n. Last night as you may recall, we celebrated my mom's birthday at Valentini's restaurant on London Road. You absolutely, no buts about it have to go! It is the best authentic Italian cuisine that I have ever had. But beware... the serving sizes are enormous so us girls (always trying to watch our lovely figures) split a meal. We chose to go with the all time favorite sampler "A Little of This, A Little of That." Well, it was alot of "ooing" and "awing" and "yum" "yums." The meal all started out with some wonderful artisan Italian bread that is made up in Chisholm on the Iron Range. The bread takes three days to make and has the same consistency like that of the all-popular no-knead bread that is out there. Crunchy, dreamy buttery-like crust and soft, spongy, airy-like dough. Then came along a wonderful garden salad with the best balsamic vinaigrette I have ever tasted! Then came the real deal, our dinner. Out came a wonderful sampling of there beef ravioli and red sauce/marinara (too-good-to-be-true-taste! Sometimes sauces can get either to aluminum tasting or too sweet or too salty but this one was just perfect!) then there was the melt in your mouth linguini alfredo. Again, I dislike most alfredos because they always are dripping with so much sauce and goopey-goops. Instead the linguini (again homemade noodle) was divine and wasn't smothered leaving nothing to ruin its fantastic taste. Then they had the most wonderful (mouth watering) half of a chicken breast or drum stick. It was practically heavenly and so moist and tender it just fell off the bone when you cut into it. Then last but not least they had the choice of either getting the sausage or meat ball. Laura and I chose the meatball and it was again over the top!
The restaurant was created and is to this day owned and run by the family. It was so nice and inviting and even better, they play great Italian arias. They are a Five Star in my opinion. But don't take my word for it. Check them out yourselves. You won't regret it!
